Head of A/V – DATALAND
Location: Los Angeles, CA (On-site, Full Time)
Salary Range: $90,000 – $120,000 (based on experience)

As we prepare to open our flagship location in Downtown Los Angeles, we are seeking a Head of A/V to lead and manage the complex digital and physical infrastructure that brings our vision to life.This is not a traditional IT role: this is a chance to architect the beating heart of a museum where data itself becomes art.
Key Qualifications & Requirements
- Experience: 5 years experience in AV integration, tech operations, or owner design representation. Priority placed on custom AV environments, not standards-based programs.
- Mindset: comfort working with cutting edge technology
- High Availability: experience with high availability architecture
- Creative Technology: experience with technology applications in art, theater, or immersive experiences
Comfortable with regular maintenance tasks associated with AV & control systems
- Swap drivers in loudspeaker cabinets
- Pull cold spares from storage, load configuration files from database, and deploy
- Run projector warping and blending routines using Scalable Display Technologies systems.
- Replace fatiguing LED wall tiles with spares, manage available spares to minimize downtime.
- Swap malfunctioning cards from modular frame devices that are in common broadcast and AV systems.
- Capable of re-terminating various cable types; RJ45, Fiber Optics, XLR, NL4, Phoenix blocks, Coax,
- Execute simple repairs, manage contracts with service organization for support on complex issues
Proficient in custom control systems;
- Comfort with QSYS control paradigms. Experience with, Crestron, Extron, & AMX a plus.
- Able to write drivers for API communication between control systems, end devices, or computers
- Relevant coding experience: Python, JSON, NodeRed
Proficient in audiovisual systems;

- Comfortable working with projectors, lenses, and auto-calibration/warping/blending systems.
- Comfort working with 10 bit 4kUHD 60Hz video
Experience running live events
- Experience with short term deployments (e.g. art activations, film, production, live events)
- Audio mixing
- Video production switching
- DMX lighting systems
- adjusting to complex and fluid production demands.
- Familiarity with rigging norms and safe practices in live events
Advanced troubleshooting skills,
- Pulling and reading logfile outputs,
- Interpreting observability performance data and intuiting performance issues,
- Critical listening skills to diagnose loudspeaker driver failures, network performance issues, or changes in audio processing profiles
- Troubleshooting video connection negotiation issues related to EDID communication, HDCP failures, and SDI streams.
- Use video vector monitor to diagnose video distortion issues induced by cables, sync, or improperly configured equipment.
Experience with media fabric networks:
- SDVOE, AES-67, AVB, QLAN, NDI, NTP/PTP
- Comfortable operating custom routing schemes on all platforms and using common orchestration platforms like Dante Controller, NDI Tools, and Aurora Multimedia IPBaseT Manager
Experience with IT networks a plus:
- Familiar with Juniper & Netgear hardware
- Network management systems: DNS, DHCP, multicast traffic, VLAN Tagging
Physical Requirements
- Able to lift 40 pounds, climb ladders, work on catwalks and tight spaces.
